President Donald Trump, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and an army of disgusted conservatives responded with vehement anger Wednesday after The Atlantic published a shocking piece from former Secretary of Defense James “Mad Dog” Mattis blasting the president for trying to maintain law & order amid the ongoing riots.
In the stunning piece, Mattis:
- Downplayed the nationwide looting and rioting that have destroyed businesses and left black community leaders like David Dorn dead …
- Peddled left-wing media-crafted lies about the president’s appearance earlier this week outside of St. John’s Church …
- Linked the president’s crackdown on murderous rioters to the alleged violation of the American people’s constitutional rights …
- And even drew a false equivalence between the Trump administration and Nazi Germany …
“Instructions given by the military departments to our troops before the Normandy invasion reminded soldiers that ‘The Nazi slogan for destroying us…was “Divide and Conquer.” Our American answer is “In Union there is Strength.”‘ We must summon that unity to surmount this crisis—confident that we are better than our politics,” he wrote.
He then accused the president of abiding by that same “Divide and Conquer” strategy of the Nazis, despite the Democrat Party being the one responsible for using identity politics and racial differences to genuinely divide the American people.
While Mattis’s piece generated an overwhelmingly positive response from the left, with “Resistance” members eagerly cheering Mattis for his backhandedness, the response from the right was overwhelmingly negative, with the president himself leading the charge.

Probably the only thing Barack Obama & I have in common is that we both had the honor of firing Jim Mattis, the world’s most overrated General. I asked for his letter of resignation, & felt great about it. His nickname was “Chaos”, which I didn’t like, & changed to “Mad Dog”…

Next came McEnany:
Former Secretary Mattis’ “article” is little more than a self-promotional stunt to appease the DC elite.
President @realDonaldTrump is the law and order President that has restored peace to our nation’s streets.
Mattis’ small words pale in comparison to @POTUS’ strong action.

Last up were conservatives who were appalled by the decision by “Mad Dog” to effectively join the left-wing Resistance.
Look:
I used to look up to General Mattis.
That changed today.
Comparing President Trump to a Nazi is outright disgusting and wrong.
I’m glad President Trump fired him.

To be clear, Mattis doesn't give a fig about us, our country, our Constitution, or our democracy. If he did, he'd have done a lot more, a lot sooner. He's merely concerned with the asterisk he will be in history books. A footnote. "Please don't list me as a traitor!" #prick

The most insightful criticism came from renowned investigative journalist Lara Logan, who noted that Mattis had watched in silence as Obama-era officials within the Department of Justice had destroyed now-exonerated former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s life. In her opinion, there was nothing honorable about that.
“Men like him knew Gen Mike Flynn was loyal to the US not Russia, yet they said nothing? As Sec Def, Mattis would have had access to all intelligence. What happened to that military code of honor in Flynn’s case? What about his Commander-in-Chief? He was silent then – but not now,” she wrote.
Indeed.

“THE NEXT ADMINISTRATION – HILLARY CLINTON’S HISTORY-MAKING DEFENSE SECRETARY IN WAITING”.
Always wondered why Mattis would want someone like that at his side? Seems unlikely she would have been loyal to the President she would have served – was he?— Lara Logan (@laralogan) June 4, 2020

The piece published in The Atlantic this Wednesday marks the second anti-Trump spiel Mattis has written since resigning from his post last year.
