British Prime Minister Boris Johnson met with President Joe Biden in the Oval Office on Tuesday before a group of reporters. As their talks progressed, Prime Minister Johnson briefly opened up the floor for questions — an off-script move that sent Biden sinking into his chair.
After Johnson took on two questions from UK reporters, White House aides frantically barged in to escort the reporters out of the room. Biden murmured “good luck” to Johnson prior to talking with the media.
On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked over the abrupt cut-off of questioning — a cowering moment showcasing the Democrats’ lack of belief in Biden going off the cuff. The questioning was openly welcomed by Prime Minister Johnson, but Psaki called out Johnson’s temerity as going beyond the U.S.’ agreement with conducting the joint meeting.
“He called on individuals from his press corps without alerting us to that intention in advance,” answered Psaki.

Democrats have long castigated former President Donald Trump over allegedly misrepresenting the United States’ image on a global stage and failing to instill confidence in fellow foreign leaders. The Biden administration has unintentionally followed this same characterization — producing no new ties with international figures since Trump’s departure. The White House has displayed waning confidence in its President as Biden repeatedly withers in the face of the media.
