One corrections officer and two others were killed in a shooting in Miami-Dade County following a graduation party.

The shooting, which broke out in a strip mall parking lot early Sunday morning, left three dead and five people injured. At least one vehicle had pulled up into the parking lot and began opening fire, according to Miami-Dade Police Department Director Freddy Ramirez. The injured individuals were taken to local hospitals.

“Our community was again painfully struck by gun violence overnight. No one is immune, this shooting took the life of a correctional officer. We all have the responsibility to report these killers. My deepest condolences to those affected by this intentional act of violence,” Ramirez said in a tweet.

Two men died after the car that opened fire crashed into a wall at a nearby college campus. Authorities have not released the name of the female corrections officer who died.

Police said they also found a weapon inside the vehicle that crashed.

The shooting comes just a week after another shooting outside of a local banquet hall in Miami-Dade County killed two people and injured 20.

Ramirez called for an end to gun violence, highlighting the rise in violence his community has seen in recent months.

“We all have to band together. This violence has to stop,” Ramirez said, according to NBC Miami. “And this is extremely frustrating. Every weekend is the same thing.”

Police said a motive for the incident is unclear at this time, and detectives are seeking community assistance on any leads related to the identity and location of the suspects.

The Washington Examiner contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department but did not immediately receive a response.
